Discussion, food and celebration on Europe Day in Bulgaria

On the occasion of the Europe day, the European Movement Bulgaria has joined forces with the UEF, JEF, Europe House-Sofia to create a large and open European atmosphere in Sofia, Burgas, and Veliko Turnovo between the 1st and 15th May.

In an effort to bring Europe and its Bulgarian citizens closer, the EMB and its partners have invited the Head of the Information Office of the European Parliament, the Head of EU Representation to Bulgaria, MPs, MEPs, the Spanish EU presidency and diplomatic dignitaries to a series of talks and discussions on the European Union, its activities, the founding fathers’ ideals (with a particular insight on the Schuman declaration), and the founding values of Europe.
By doing so, it is an exciting opportunity for individuals to get involved in a reflection process on Europe with their own representatives and decision-makers.

Such diverse European cultures offer so much to discover about other countries, especially when it comes to food. European cakes for the kids in the kinder gardens,  roasted lamb in Saint Georgian Style, traditional food and drinks from different countries   will spice up the celebrations, exposing the citizens to other culinary traditions.
A picnic in Vitosha mountain will mark the International Year of Biodiversity and recognize the efforts of the EU to become a pioneer in the fight against climate change.
That is the perfect example of a Europe united in diversity: many people gathering discovering and enjoying other countries’ cultures.

Finally, Europe day is also the traditional occasion to award the prize for the best European contribution of the year. European diplomatic dignitaries and journalists have been invited to attend the ceremony.
