EM Political Committee on Jobs and Growth meets to discuss the European Pact for Youth
On 1 March 2016 the European Movement International Political Committee on Jobs, Competitiveness and Sustainable Growth met with Ms Julie Fionda of the cabinet of Marianne Thyssen to discuss the European Pact for Youth. Ms Fionda explained the concept of the Pact for Youth, which was initiated by the European Business Network for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR Europe) and is supported by the European Commission. The objective is to open up more spaces for youth to enter the job market through the establishment of 10 000 quality business-education partnerships and the creation of 100 000 new good-quality apprenticeships, traineeships and entry-level jobs. The Agenda for new skills and jobs was also discussed and the importance of improving the recognition of skills across the EU. The European Movement, as the largest pro-European civil society network in Europe is keen to contribute to this initiative and help deliver more quality opportunities for young people in Europe.
