EMI: Board Meeting / Head of Office Meeting
We have had some very exciting days here in Brussels this week. On Tuesday, the European Movement International’s Board came together to discuss and strategise on how we, as a pan-European movement, should approach the new realities in Brussels, with a new European Parliament and an incoming new European Commission. On Wednesday, we had a Head of Office meeting, bringing together members from across Europe to discuss and plan joint activities in the year to come.
With this in mind, these are interesting times we are living in, both here in Europe and in the world at large. On the one hand, youth across the globe have taken to the streets, the parks, and to the halls of the UN, to demand action on climate change. Further, digitalisation presents a real opportunity to activate citizen participation in decision-making and improve society at large, while at the same time also presents real challenges to e.g. the future of work. On the other hand, BoJo is making the Brexit process even messier, while the growth in authoritarianism presents a real threat to democracy and the rule of law in certain parts of Europe.
We are therefore so very glad to have such a wide-reaching network, who is together working for the betterment of Europe and the world!
The @EMInternational Board is meeting to discuss how we should #ComeTogether and #WorkTogether in shaping the #FutureofEurope. We are looking forward to working with citizens, civil society, the #vdlCommission and @Europarl_EN moving forward.
