European Movement International joins the campaign for a European Citizens’ Initiative
Following the decision made at its Federal Council in Helsinki, the European Movement International (EMI) joins more than a hundred NGOs from all over Europe in their support of the European Citizens’ Initiative.
Initiated by AEGEE-Europe and launched on the 9th of November, the ECI campaign is a huge democratic movement demanding legal introduction of the right of initiative for Europeans (included also in the European Constitution as Article 47). Once introduced into European law, ECI will require the EU institutions to respond to every new proposal signed by at least one million EU citizens.
The Europe-wide signature gathering is supported by EMI member organisations in several countries.
Find more information about ECI on the campaign website www.citizens-initiative.eu where you can also sign the Initiative online.
If you would like to join the campaign contact the ECI Coordination Team.
