EVBB: Malta 2017 – A Joint Declaration for the Future of VET in Europe

October was an exciting month for both EVBB and EVTA. Having our second joint conference in the heart of Malta hosted by our partner Paragon Europe, we had a lot of fruitful and interesting discussions on the future of VET. Members of both associations came together to discuss the challenges that arise in the sector of Vocational Education and Training, to hear about different topics from important and interesting key players on the market and to work on those topics in several workshops.

The Digital Revolution and the impact on VET Staff skills, the Digitalisation and the impact on VET Learners, how VET providers act and behave in the context of societal constraints, how VET providers handle youth unemployment. All those topics were handled and discussed very profoundly keeping in mind the the mobility of VET learners and graduates to gain professional recognition throughout Europe.

Next to the European Union which has very well understood the challenges in VET by launching the “Skills Agenda” and the “European Vocational Skills Week” next November 2017, we came up with our own way forward that targets the above mentioned challenges and gives recommendations to the the European Institutions to handle these. It is our true responsibility as VET providers to be part of this development.

Thus, we are very proud to present to you the Maltese Declaration that gives advice to the key players in our sector, that is supposed to raise the awareness of politicians with respect to societal challenges VET providers are confronted with and to begin a constructive dialogue on solutions designed to tackle the most critical issues VET providers, the industry, the labour market and the learners are exposed to.

Find the declaration posted here, and more information here.
