Fruitful Federal Council brings Resolutions ahead of the New Year
The European Movement’s Federal Council on the 15th and 16th of December brought some interesting developments including two new resolutions on the issues of “Communicating Europe Together” and “Looking forward to a new EU in 2009”.
“Communicating Europe Together” addresses the importance of developing a coherent policy for communicating Europe in the member states, and particularly giving civil society actors a role in informing the general public on EU affairs.
“Looking Forward to a new EU in 2009” emphasises the need for an in-depth discussion on EU issues in the lead-up to the 2009 parliamentary elections. Support for the incoming European Commission should also be showing by linking candidates for Commission posts to political parties, strengthening the democratic choice of Commissioners.
