Nuclear Power on Trial as European energy source

Following the success of the second “Energy at Stake!” debate on energy market liberalisation, the European Movement International (EMI) is concluding the debate series with the hottest topic of all: nuclear power.

At an innovative event scheduled for the 11th June, the EMI intends to call leaders in the energy and environment fields to take responsibility for their positions on nuclear energy. Can nuclear power be considered the clean resource of the future that will allow the EU to meet emission reduction targets by 2020? Or is the risk involved too great?

Mr Pat Cox, president of the European Movement, will moderate a mock trial, and the future of energy resources in Europe is at stake. Speakers from the Green 10, the conglomerate of major environmental actors active in Brussels, ENEL and the European Parliament are expected to participate in what is sure to be a contentious debate.

The EMI is now seeking stakeholders to play an active part in the discussion. Contact us for more details and visit www.speakup-energy.blogactiv.eu to find out more about Energy at Stake!
