The financial crisis, 5 years on
Do you remember where you were when banks all over the world began to tremble after the collapse of Lehman Brothers five years ago? The crisis that broke out in September 2008 soon proved to be more than just a banking crisis. ELEC’s Monetary Commission that meets tomorrow in Brussels, will examine the various forms the crisis took: credit crisis, sovereign crisis, euro crisis, economic recession, you name it. The overriding theme will be: did we learn the lessons of what started five years ago? Has enough been done to solve the present crisis and to avoid that the same thing happens in the future?
The subject will be analyzed from different angles by speakers from different disciplines, as always providing a kick-off for a large debate among participants.
