Young European Federalist, Peter Matjasic, elected President of the European Youth Forum
The European Movement International (EMI) congratulates Peter Matjašič on his election as President of the European Youth Forum (YFJ). Peter Matjašič was elected President at the General Assembly of the YFJ in Kyiv, Ukraine, for a two years term, starting January 2011.
Peter was until very recently Secretary General of JEF, one of the two youth organisations that are both members of the European Youth Forum and of the European Movement International (the other one being AEGEE), and will build on this experience to give the youth a strong voice towards the European institutions and emphasize topics such as youth employment and quality education.
Diogo Pinto, EMI Secretary General and former Secretary General of the European Youth Forum, welcomed this election and noted: “On behalf of the European Movement International I wish Peter a successful term as President of the European Youth Forum. The EMI considers the European youth and their interests as central to the European project, and is looking forward to further deepen its cooperation with young citizens and youth organisations, in particular the European Youth Forum”.
