Bernd Hüttemann Vice-President

Bernd Hüttemann has been EMI’s Vice-President since 2014. He is also Secretary General of the European Movement Germany, which consists of 246 German interest groups. He was a member of EMI’s board since 2008. Between 2000 and 2003 he carried out EU integration programmes of the German Federal Government for the Slovak and Croatian governments in Bratislava and Zagreb. He is a Teaching Fellow at the University of Passau with a special focus on Europeanisation and lobbying and the role of participatory democracy. Previously, he gained scientific experience in the University of Bonn and as a Research Associate of the Institute for European Politics in Berlin.

Bernd has been active in the EMI’s member associations since the 1990s when he was Secretary General of JEF Europe. He learned international non-profit advocacy as a board member of the ECB of international youth organisations (today Youth Forum), co-operating closely with the youth directorate of the Council of Europe.

Since 1988 he has been a member of the Union of European Federalists and is a current member of its Federal Committee.
